Why We Started

Music on the River was born during Steph’s initial cancer diagnosis and treatment, at a time when music, community, and connection became more meaningful than ever.
What began as a small concert series grew into something much bigger, with our community coming together last summer to help raise over $20,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer. This year, we’re bringing Music on the River back for a second time in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at Princess Margaret, the place where Steph received her treatment.
Throughout that journey, our family was carried by the love and support of friends, neighbours, and community members. This event is our way of giving something meaningful back.
At its heart, Music on the River is about hope, resilience, and community care. It is a reminder that nobody should face cancer alone.
